Paying CombinationsYou should hold almost all paying combinations. (A pair of jacks or better and up.) Royal Flush Draws vs. Flushes & StraightsIf you have a flush or a straight, and you also have a four card draw to a royal flush, go for the royal flush. (Note that this is one of two exceptions to the rule of holding a paying combination.) Straight Flush Draws vs. High PairsIf you have four cards to a straight flush and also a high pair, go for the straight flush. (Note that this is the second of two exceptions to the rule of holding a paying combination.) 4 Cards to a Straight Flush vs. 3 Cards to a Royal FlushIf you don't have a paying combination, look for 4 cards to a straight flush first, then look for 3 cards to a royal flush if you don't have that. Those are the best non-paying hands you can have, and you should hold them if you have them. 4 Cards to a Flush, vs. Low Pairs, vs. 4 Cards to an Outside Straight DrawIf you don't have a paying combination or a draw to a straight or royal flush, look for 4 cards to a flush, a low pair, or 4 cards to an outside straight, in that order.
